Angola: General Lúcio Guarantees Land Troops Readiness

Luanda — The Angolan army is ready and capable of defending the territory at the land component, a mission assigned by the commander in Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), José Eduardo dos Santos and by the country's constitution.

This was said to Angop by the head of this military army branch, General Lúcio do Amaral, on the fringes of the opening ceremony of the symposium on the creation of the land forces.

In the addition, the general said that the re-equipment has been done slowly, due to the costs of the military materials.

He also said that some means have been recovered as for various reasons they had lost their efficiency.

"But we can see currently that the land forces are ready to accomplish any mission they are assigned to", he said.

Commenting on the challenges of this branch, the general mentioned the training of cadres, construction of barracks, military teaching centres, as well as improvement of medical assistance and medicines to the troops.
