Kenya: Isiolo Hopefuls Sign Peace Accord

Isiolo aspirants yesterday signed a memorandum to uphold peace during the election period at a media meeting.

The meeting supported by Safer World International, a non-governmental organisation operating in the region, brought together participants from various NGOs, elites, youth, women, provincial administration and Peace and Conflict Resolution committee.

Safer World Upper Eastern leaders led by Abdia Mohamed and Hussein Mursal said the signing of the peace accord at Isiolo Catholic Hall will help hold future leaders accountable in during and after the 2013 general election.

The participants queried the aspirants on their manifestos. Mohamed said the forum also aims at educating the public on the importance of devolution and embrace value-driven leadership. She said Safer World will continue to hold more forums between the aspirants and the community representatives.
