Namibia: Wall Kills Man At Rehoboth

A MAN, suspected to be in his 40s, was killed at Rehoboth yesterday when a two-metre-high wall collapsed on top of him and a colleague.

The incident took place at about 10h00 yesterday in the town’s Block B residential area.

According to a police officer, Johannes van Wyk was part of a group of builders constructing flats near the police station.

Yesterday morning, Van Wyk and a colleague, Willem Wemmert, removed bricks that were stacked next to one of the walls. This apparently caused it to collapse.

Van Wyk was killed instantly while Wemmert sustained serious injuries. The police officer says Wemmert injured his back, head and legs.
