Luanda — The African Basketball Cup trophy won on Saturday by 1º de Agosto senior team in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, will be presented to the commander-in-chief of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), José Eduardo dos Santos.
The information was released Wednesday in Luanda by the chief of FAA Staff, gen. Geraldo Sachipengo Nunda.
Gen. Nunda, who is also a member of the club's board was speaking at a ceremony of homage to the African champions.
During the ceremony that took place on the premises of the Ministry of Defence, gen. Nunda explained that the club has all along received the support of the commander-in-chief, the reason why the trophy will be presented to him.
The FAA officer who would not disclose the date for the presentation of the trophy, said the arrangements are still being made for the purpose.
1º de Agosto, a club under the Angolan Armed Forces, beat the also Angolan Petro de Luanda by 80-69 in the final of the competition.
