On Wednesday, December 12, 2012, the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) issued a statement in Monrovia, publically seeking clarifications specifically from the Government of Liberia(GOL) why they have been excluded from the National Vision 2030 exercise, which is primarily aimed at national renewal and the overall process of post-war reconstruction and development of the country.

The NDC, among other political groupings, is represented and led by the New Democratic Alternative for Liberia Movement (New DEAL Movement) and the Free Democratic Party (FDP).

The NDC says they are seeking clarifications from the government because since the formal launch of the National Visioning Program the national leadership of the party has never been invited to participate in any and all programs and proceedings of the Visioning National Agenda, but other political parties have been invited to participate in this national endeavor.

For example, the NDC notes that they were never invited to the just ended National Vision 2030 Conference in Gbarnga, Bong County.

Unlike other political parties, the NDC avers that they have never received any invitation to participate in any of the Visioning sectoral group discussions, as well as its nation-wide tour. For us, we commend the NDC for the stance they are taking in seeking clarifications from the government concerning its exclusion from the National Vision 2030 exercise.

We consider their move as prudent and well guided. Honestly, we think the government owes the NDC, as a duly registered political party in the country, explanations in this matter because the President has said that the Vision 2030 is for all, not few Liberians.

Like other political parties, it is very important for the government to include the NDC in this vital initiative.

It is our ardent hope that the government will address the NDC's inquiry for the enhancement of our nascent democracy.
