South Africa: Premier Modise Expresses Shock As Regional Secretary Is Killed

North West Premier Thandi Modise has expressed shock that ANC Regional Secretary in Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District, Obuti Chika was gunned down at his home in Alabama outside Klerksdorp in the early hours of this morning.

In conveying her condolences to the Chika family, Premier Modise appealed for calm and called on police not to leave any stone unturned until those responsible are brought to book.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Cde Chika. Those around them should rally to give them support. The heartless criminals behind the campaign of terror that nearly claimed the life of ANCNW Provincial Secretary Kabelo Mataboge a few weeks back are desperate and should be put behind bars soonest, Cde Chika like Cde Moss Phakoe should find justice" stressed Modise.

In the same breath, Modise called for an indepth investigation into the attempted assassination of Mataboge and said that the provincial government wants to know who is behind these assassinations.
