Nigeria: Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Resumes Kidney Transplant

Kano — He said, "The hospital resumed transplant of kidney on a forty-eight-year old Kano based businessman, Alhaji Bashir Sharif Bawa, whose nephew donated the kidney. The operation lasted for about three hours, and was carried out by a combined team of surgeons, nephrologists, nurses and anaesthetists".

Inuwa added that kidney transplant will now be done on a monthly basis at the cost of N2 million, which would include post operative care.

Kidney transplant in the hospital was suspended in 2009 due to some technicalities which have now been rectified, he said.
