Namibia: Boxing Showdown At Eenhana

WELTERWEIGHT fighter Pohamba ‘The President’ Mandume will lead a cast of boxers at an exhibition scheduled for Eenhana's multipurpose youth centre tomorrow.

The event is meant to help the boxers on the card prepare for upcoming fights early next year. Also on the card are IBF Intercontinental Africa featherweight title holder Gotlieb Ndokosho, the flamboyant Daniel ‘Open Fire’ Kasheela, Matthew Kandala, Lazarus Namalambo and Jackson Nakaleke.

A number of unspecified amateur boxers are also expected to feature at the event.

The exhibition fight is organised by Mandume and Joseph Benata, Jackson Nakaleke, Vanyhika Jeremiah and Junias Ashino Ndapwa.

“We just want to keep fit for our fights next year so it’s just sparring. We also organised the event because people in the region want to see professional boxers in action. This is their chance to come and see for themselves how we do things. We will put on a great show,” said Mandume, who is expected to fight national welterweight champion Tommy Hango at next year’s Independence Day Boxing Bonanza.

Entrance to the event costs N$50 per adult while N$20 will be charged for children.
