Angola: Public Media Organs Stand Out At National Journalism Award

Luanda — Journalists of public media organs last Thursday in Luanda won three out of four categories of the 2012 National Journalism Award, whose ceremony was attended by the Mass Media minister, José Luís de Matos.

The categories won by public media organs are Press, Radio, Photography and Image.

The Press category prize was taken by the weekly economic newspaper Semanário Económico with the state-owned Edições Novembro group, whereas in Radio the trophy went to Amílcar Xavier with the public National Radio of Angola (RNA).

The Photography and Image category was won by the cameraman of the Public Television of Angola (TPA), Sebastião Solar.

The trophy for the fourth category (Television) was conquered by the journalist of the private TV Zimbo station, Carlos Capitango.

Each winner was awarded with a 3.5 million kwanza cheque and the corresponding trophy.

The State minister and head of the President's Civil Office, Edeltrudes Costa, attended the ceremony in representation of the Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos.

The gala was also attended by the Culture minister, Rosa Cruz e Silva, public and private media organs officials, MPs, politicians, scholars, diplomats, among other personalities.
