In line with their excess produce, maize farmers under the sunshade of Masara N' Arziki Association have received early payments for their produce this year.

The General Manager of Masara N' Arziki, Mr. Luuc Smits was optimistic that the early payments will maximize their income levels aimed at improving their living conditions.

He said: "We have made another mile stone by paying our association members early to better their lives since their welfare is our major priority; It is on record that, this year the association has paid farmers very early as compared to previous years where farmers usually started receiving payments after November."

"With the timely distribution of inputs during cultivation early this year, coupled with excellent weather, the association has confirmed a flying start into the harvesting season," Mr. Smits added.

According to him, the farmers were happy with the guaranteed prices and reiterated the association's commitment to improve maize production in the country.

Mr. Smits predicted high yields across the northern regions and therefore appealed to the beneficiaries to repay their credit facilities for onward disbursement to other deserving members.

He hinted, "on time delivery of services, fast processing of administrative procedures, swift logistics and fast payment of beneficiaries among others are the top priorities of the Masara N Arziki farmers association."

Masara N' Arziki is being supported by Wienco and Yara Ghana limited and it is the largest maize farmers association in Ghana with a membership of 8,500 farmers.

Currently, the association is operating in the three Northern regions and some parts of the Brong Ahafo region with the aim of ensuring easy access to affordable credit in a form of high quality inputs and guaranteed markets for members. citifmonline.com
