Nigeria: I Won't Marry That Woman - Kwankwaso

Barely a week after LEADERSHIP Weekend reported the intention of Hajia Rabi Shehu Sharada to marry Kano State Governor Rabi'u Musa Kwankwaso at the next Hisbah's mass wedding, the state chief executive has turned the application down.

Hajia Sharada, an elder of the Kano State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had in in a radio programme and in a chat with LEADERSHIP Weekend in Kano indicated her interest to marry the governor at the forthcoming event.

But in an interview with LEADERSHIP Weekend, Hisbah Board Deputy Commander General (Women's Wing), Hajia Zahra Umar Muhammad, disclosed that some senior officers of the board met the governor on the proposal but he indicated that he was not interested in marrying another wife.

Hajia Zahra said one of the responsibilities of the Hisbah is to match-make couples, who have consented to marrying each other.

Hajia Sharada in her proposal had said she wanted to marry the governor to help him in the running the state and also to unify the PDP, which now has three factions in the state.
