Ethiopia: Multi-Billion Deal

Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) signed a 3.9 billion Br project agreement with two Chinese contractors for 197Km road construction that will lead to Tana Beles Sugar Factory, which is under construction by the Ethiopian government, on November 22, 2012.

The first 100Km project, which stretches from Enjibara inAmharaRegionalStateto Pawi, located in Benishangul-Gumuz at a cost of 2.3 billion Br, is awarded to China Communication Construction Company (CCCC). The second project, which costs 1.6 billion Br, was also awarded to another Chinese construction company, CGCOC. This project also covers 97Km in Oromia and Afrar regional states.

The Authority is also in process of choosing consultant, which it will announce within the next one month, said Zayid Weldegebriel (middle), at the signing ceremony at the head office of ERA last week. The Managing Director of CCCC, Zhou Yongsheng (right front) Gao Lei (far left) managing director of CCCC also attended the ceremony.
