Uganda: Drink Drivers to Stay in Cells

Drink drivers have been put on police notice. Anyone caught drunk and driving during the festive season will not be released on bond.

Metropolitan Police Commander Andrew Felix Kaweesi says they are under strict orders to ensure a trouble-free season, meaning all attention will be on keeping the peace, rather than bailing out offenders.

He said the entire 40,000 force would be on duty. Kaweesi also banned the parking of vehicles in front of banks as a way of decongesting the city and as a precaution against terror attacks.
