Angola: Television Cameraman Wins Journalism Award

Luanda — The State-run Televisão Publica de Angola (TPA) cameraman Sebastião Solar Thursday in Luanda won the photography and image category of the 2012 edition of the National Journalism Award.

Sebastião Solar contested in the final with the photographer of the State-run daily paper Jornal de Angola, Rogério Tuti, whom he beat.

The prize-giving ceremony was witnessed by the Social Communication minister, José Luís de Matos.

Sebastião Solar got the prize with the work "Solidarity and Charisma".

Journalist Amílcar Xavier won the award in the category of radio, while the photography and image trophy went to the State-run "Televisão Publica de Angola" (TPA) cameraman, Sebastião Solar.

TV Zimbo's Carlos Capitango won the television category prize, whereas the economics weekly won the award in the print class.

Each winner has been entitled to an Akz 3.5 million (Usd 35,000) cheque.
