Kenya: Forbes Africa Celebrates James Mwangi

Dr James Mwangi, the CEO of Equity Bank, was on Tuesday night feted at a dinner party in celebration of his winning the 2012 Forbes Africa Person of the Year award at a ceremony held earlier this month in Lagos, Nigeria.

The dinner held at the Hilton Nairobi was hosted by Forbes Africa, and saw Mwangi honoured for his achievement that saw him triumph over four other nominees namely, Stephen Saad, co-founder of Aspen Pharmacare, Africa's richest man Nigeria's Aliko Dangote, founder and chairman of Heirs Holding Tony Elumelu, and President Joyce Banda of Malawi.

Mwangi expressed his joy in winning the award saying, "in giving I have received what I deserve so always find a place in your heart to be good to society so that in turn they can celebrate your success."

Present at the event were various CEOs and media personalities including Radio Africa Group CEO Patrick Quarco, KNH CEO Richard Lesiyampe, RICH Management CEO Aly-Khan Satchu, Imatong Energy, Mineral & Oil services CEO Sam Koskei Too and Classic 105 breakfast host Maina Kageni.
