Namibia: Restaurant Treats Sos Children

THE staff of the Peppercorn Grill and Steakhouse in Windhoek served a meal to 104 children and their caregivers from the SOS Children's Village in Khomasdal instead of having a year-end staff party.

"This is the first time we as staff of Peppercorn are doing this and it feels really good to give back and to see the smiles on the faces of the children, many of whom have never been to a steakhouse before," said Christa Hiuui, front manager of the restaurant.

The staff have been treated to a staff party every year since 2006 but decided unanimously this year to treat the less privileged instead.

"We hope that through this we can also encourage other companies and employees to think of the less fortunate in this time of giving," said Lovemore Muchazoreka, the kitchen manager.

The children received a chicken or beef burger and chips, ice cream and as much juice as they wanted. They also received Christmas presents from the staff.
