It appears that things are falling apart within the main opposition, the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), following the appointment of Mr. George Weah as peace and reconciliation head.

It all started when the political leader of the CDC honored an invitation from the Liberian Government to attend the just ended Vision 2030 national conference in the central part of the country, Gbarnga, Bong County.

The National Chairman of the Youth League of the CDC, Jefferson Koijee had called on Mr. Weah to boycott the conference on grounds that the conference was not in the interest of the Liberian people.

Based on his statement, the National Executive Committee of the party suspended Mr. Koijee for time indefinite. His crime was for speaking to the public and questioning the political movement unauthorized. But the leadership for the Youth League is said to be backing Koijee, maintaining that they were not aware of the suspension.

The youth league further quotes the constitution of the CDC, which states, there should be an internal investigation to prove that an individual is liable before the action of suspension can be taken.

The CDC youths claimed that the due process was not observed in the Koji situation, which demonstrates a procedural error on the part of the party's National Executive Committee.

The National Executive Committee of the CDC, suspended Mr. Koijee for what they said was violation of the CDC communication's policy by issuing a statement on the Vision 2030 in the name of the party without authorization; misrepresentation of the party's position on Mr. Weah's role as Peace Ambassador and alleged attempt to disrupt the Vision 2030 Conference in his role as CDC Youth Chairman, an outcome that would have brought the party into public disrepute among others.

Meanwhile, the party has appointed, Mr. Samuel Tweah as head of the ethics and grievance committee to probe into the matter, though there is no time frame attach to the committee when as regards to submitting its report.
