Angola: Remains of Musician Zecax Laid to Rest

Luanda — The remains of the musician and songwriter José António Janota "Zecax", who died Sunday in Namibia victim of disease, were buried this Friday at Luanda's "Alto das Cruzes" Cemetery.

Reading the eulogy, the deputy chairman of the National Union of Artists and Composers (UNAC), Massano Júnior said that the work of Zecax will not be forgotten.

He said that the late singer inspired a new generation for the preservation of the Angolan rhythms.

Massano Júnior noted that Zecax left a testament of artist, always preserving the music "semba" style, which is the benchmark of Angolan folk music.

José António Janota was born on 2 June in 1956 in Sambizanga locality in Luanda.
