Angola: Gymnastics Squad Back Home With 17 Medals

Luanda — The Angolan gymnastics team returned this Friday to Luanda after having won 17 medals in Pretoria, South Africa, during the Zone VI African Championships (SADC), in the tumbling category.

The 23-athlete entourage of the seniors, juniors and pre-juniors females and males' categories, with ages ranging from eight to 23 years, brought to Luanda eight gold, six silver and three bronze medals.

Horácio Pitagrós, Muto Francisco, and António Afonso won the gold medals in the juveniles' category, and Doroteia António won silver in the juniors' category, whilst Jerson Samuliu won a bronze in the pre-junior class.

In the females' juveniles, the trio made up of Julmira Tchempele, Blandina Rodrigues and Maricel Sitaque, the latter eight of age, won the silver in the second position.

Having begun on Sunday, the SADC competition counted on the participation of Angola, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
