Angola: Road Accidents Prevention Campaign Enters Second Stage

Luanda — The National Traffic Department (DNVT) last Sunday in Luanda launched the second stage of the roads accidents prevention and security, under the theme "If you drink do not drive".

The measure being implemented countrywide is part of a global campaign dubbed "Peace in the streets" and it is an initiative of the DNVT with the support of the Ministry of the Interior, in partnership with the British Petroleum (BP) company.

The campaign includes sensitisation of drivers, through the handing out of informative leaflets on the risks of certain attitudes on the road, such as drink-driving.

The campaign will also be promoted by public and private media organs, ANGOP has learnt.

The launching ceremony was attended by the national director of the DNVT, Inocêncio de Brito, national director for Civil Protection and Fire Service, commissioner António Vicente Gimbe, police officers and firemen.

According to data from the National Traffic Department (DNVT) the number of road accidents this year is higher than in 2011.
