Nairobi — The office of the Ombudsman has recommended that Embakasi Member of Parliament Ferdinand Waititu and his Makadara counterpart Gidion Mbuvi alias Mike Sonko be barred from vying for public office.

In the recommendation made to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, the chairperson of the Commission on Administrative Justice Otiende Amollo said Waititu should be disqualified as he hired goons to vandalise the Nile Road Primary School on August 25, 2012.

The commission on the other hand says Sonko should be disqualified on account of the alleged assault of National Assembly Senior Sergeant-at-Arms Harun Okal and consequently paying him Sh25,000 to drop his complaint.

The commission has also received complaints against Juja Member of Parliament William Kabogo regarding the death of university student Mercy Keino, but said it could not comment on the matter given there is an ongoing inquest.
