Gambia: Sall's Envoy Holds Talks With President Jammeh

President Macky Sall on Friday dispatched a special envoy to Banjul to extend his profound gratitude to the Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, for securing the release of eight Senegalese soldiers captured by a faction of the MFDC loyal to Salif Sadjo.

General Pateh Seck, the Senegalese Interior minister who led the high-powered Senegalese ministerial delegation to Banjul told the State House Press corps that he was asked by President Sall to extend his profound gratitude to President Jammeh and the entire Gambian populace for the breakthrough and to reinforce an earlier phone call made to the Gambian leader by President Sall for his role in the release of his soldiers.

Minister Seck further underscored the remarks made by President Sall on the Gambia government's efforts on the release of their soldiers and described the response of President Jammeh towards their discussion as a positive development.

The Senegalese Interior Minister further disclosed that his discussions with the Gambian leader also touched on other key areas such as infrastructure, highlighting the importance of harmonizing the role of the key ministries for the realisation of the desired goals.
