The inaugural Western Province football mini-league has been set for this weekend at the Bukhungu Stadium. According to Elly Mukolwe, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) National.
Executive Committee member (Western), a total of six teams will compete in the mini league. He said the best two would then be picked to face winners of Nyanza Province and Western Province in early January before deciding on which ones to get promotion to Division One.
The teams that will be rub shoulders in the mini-league include--Lake View, Mumcop, Hamisi FC, Lumakanda Kings, Bumula Combined and Asing'e.
"We will be picking the best two teams from the six in the mini-league to represent Western Province against teams from Nyanza and Rift Valley. We will also use the occasion to fete branches that had the best run leagues in the province,"said Mukolwe.
Western province football administrators and supporters were elated by the promotion of Kakamega Homeboyz into the Kenya Premier League something they attributed to strong lower tier leagues in the region.
