Kenya: Huruma's Pirates Hit Alabama to Win Cup

Huruma-based Orlando Pirates clinched the Kura Cup after defeating Alabama FC with a solitary goal in a thrilling final watched by a mammoth crowd at Mathare four grounds in Nairobi.

James Obwam netted the winning goal in the seven-a-side tournament in the 56th minute after tapping home Edwin Mugo's corner.

The tournament, which attracted 16 teams, was sponsored by Extreme Sports chief executive officer, Mohamed Hussein in conjunction with area councilor Wilson Ocholla and football administration Jared Onyango.

The tournament theme was to create awareness for locals within the area to register as voters ahead of tomorrow's registration deadline and before next year's general elections.

While launching the one-day tournament, Mohammed appealed to Kenyans to register in large numbers and ensure they elect credible leaders who will bring change and initiate development in their areas. The tournament was played in four different wards of Kariobangi, Lucky Summer, Babadogo and Mathare 4A.
