South Africa: Fifa Report On Match Fixing

SAFA on Friday, 14 December 2012 confirmed that it has received from FIFA the report on the Pre-World Cup 2010 International Friendly Matches that was completed by the former Head of Security for FIFA, Mr Chris Eaton.

The investigation by FIFA was instigated at the request of SAFA in October 2011, when speculation around the matches and the role of a possible international match-fixing syndicate in their manipulation had arisen. Given that the alleged match-fixers were not South Africans, and given that FIFA were conducting investigations into this international syndicate at the same time, SAFA indicated to FIFA that this investigation would best be undertaken by FIFA. This was agreed by FIFA, and the investigation began on March 1st, 2012.
