Nigeria: Navy - Helicopter Air Worthy, Well Maintained

The Nigerian Navy has stated that the ill-fated Augusta Helicopter that crashed on Saturday; killing all six people on board including the late Governor of Kaduna State, Patrick Yakowa and former National Security Adviser (NSA), Gen. Andrew Azazi was in excellent condition before the flight.

However, the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Joseph Ezeoba has set up board of inquiry to investigate the remote and immediate cause of the crash.

Speaking to journalists in a press conference Monday, the Naval Chief of Training and Operations, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogbor said that the all the Nigerian Navy helicopters in operation including the crashed NN07 are properly maintained in accordance with manufacturers' specifications.
