The 2007 Algiers suicide bombing trial will resume January 6th in Algiers, APS reported on Sunday (December 16th). Seven of the 13 defendants will be tried in absentia, including al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb leader Abdelmalek Droukdel.
Defendants Bakour Fouad and Fettouche Tahar Yacine have admitted to buying two trucks, loading them with 1,600 kg of explosives and delivering them to the suicide bombers.
The December 11, 2007 twin car bomb attacks on the UNHCR office in Hydra and the Constitutional Court in Ben Aknoun killed 26 people, including 17 UN workers, and injured 177, according to official data.
