Kenya: Otieno Beat Kihunyu to Win Barclays Title

Home player Ken Otieno won the Barclays Golf Circuit Challenge at Royal Nairobi Club on Saturday. Playing off handicap 23, Otieno posted 42 points --20 in the first nine and 22 points-- in the second nine to emerge top.

Morris Kihunyu (handicap 17) lost to the winner on count back after posting similar score of 42 (20,22). Lady Ikumu Kobayashi also lost on count back to Kihunyu to settle for third position.

She was, however, the top lady and won first nine's prize after posting 23 points. The second nine's prize went to handicap 7 Hanen Patel who posted 24 points.

Patel also scooped the fourth position scoring 41 stableford points. He beat Malonza Kasamu on count back. The highlight of the tournament was, however, handicap 26 Njungu Kungu, a 12-year-old, who scored a remarkable 41 points. Kungu grabbed the junior top prize after posting 20 points in the first nine and 21 points in the second nine.

Handicap 12, Pius Angasa of Muthaiga took home the guest prize on 34 points (16, 18) while Charles Mboga playing off handicap 23 emerged as the staff winner on 36 points (18,18).
