Kenya: How Orengo, Oburu Reconciled

It has now emerged that the acrimony between James Orengo and Oburu Oginga over Siaya Senate post was arbitrated by the party's top brass.

Speaking at Rarieda where ODM officials had gone to support Nicholas Gumbo's re-election bid, Oburu said he chose to stop down for the sake of unity.

"Raila felt the protracted battle between me and Orengo was harmful to party and though I had mounted an aggressive campaign for the seat and used enormous resources, I decided to cede ground," he said.
