Kenya: Safari Classic Rally Filling Up Fast

With just twelve months to go before the start of the 2013 Kenya Airways Safari Classic Rally, the entry list is filling up fast.

It is not just quantity--there are over 30 entries already--but also the quality of both cars and crews that will be bound to ensure an excellent and competitive event next November.

Of the entries so far received, the most exciting news is of a Swedish team that have entered six Porsche 911s with ex-world rally champions, Bjorn Waldegard and Stig Blomqvist as lead drivers.

The project was officially launched at a dinner in Stockholm on November 21st, exactly one year before the start of the 2013 KQ Safari Classic. The six Porsche 911s will be prepared and run by Tuthill Porsche and Richard Tuthill.

There are a further nine Porsche 911s entered of which six come from Belgium and three are entered by Kronos Vintage for Jean-Pierre Mondron, Stephan Meyers and Gérard Brianti.

Also from Belgium in a Porsche 911 is that stalwart of the Safari Classic--and Paris-Dakar--Gerard Marcy while local hopes for success in a Stuttgart car will ride with Aslam Khan in the Porsche 911 that made its debut with him on the 2011 Safari Classic.
