Academics and civil society activists from Mauritania and Europe gathered Tuesday (December 18th) in Nouakchott for a conference on migration.
The Maghreb Centre for Strategic Studies in Nouakchott hosted the forum, in partnership with the Konrad Adenauer Centre.
"In the past, migration was a human phenomenon touching all peoples and enabling dialogue between different cultures and civilisations, but it has become one of the biggest problems in the world, particularly in terms of the security challenges," Maghreb Centre director Didi Ould Essalek told Magharebia.
