Gambia: Super Nawettan Organising Committee Bans Sukuta

The Super Nawettan Organizing Committee (SNOC) has banned Sukuta for one year for their fans' improper conduct following their 1-0 defeat to Banjul in the quarterfinal game of the Super Nawettan zonal football competition played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium on Sunday.

The committee has also fined Sukuta D5, 000 after their fans stoned the match officials which resulted in destruction of invaluable materials at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.

Several people sustained serious injuries including the Daily Observer reporter Alieu Ceesay.

Sukuta were fined D2,000 for their fans' misconduct during their group B game against Bakau and won the game 2-1 a fortnight ago at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium.

The SNOC therefore appeals to all participating zones to maintain discipline and tolerance during the competition, while promising a trouble-free competition.

Meanwhile, Banjul will play Bakau tomorrow Wednesday 19 December 2012 at the Serrekunda East in the first semi-final.

Brikama will play BEM at the Brikama Mini-Stadium, while Serrekunda East will host Brufut.

Winners of the two encounters will face each other in the second semi-final.

The final will be played on Saturday 22 December 2012.
