Nairobi — All sitting directors of the Kenya Motors Sport Federation (KMSF) have been sent home with 11 Clubs across the country officially taking over the running of the governing body following an Annual General Meeting on Wednesday.
In an unprecedented move, the Directors voluntarily stepped down paving way for the clubs to shape the future of the sport after what sources said was sometimes an acrimonious meeting.
The AGM mandated a five-man Caretaker Committee to oversee operations of the federation in the interim pending a January 15 meeting that will decide who among the nominees from the club will assume the chairmanship.
The Nominees will automatically become members of the Board of Directors of KMSF.
"Today we had an AGM and moved towards changing the structure of the KMSF to reflect an empowerment of the Clubs.
"We appreciate that the outgoing board of directors this year who have voluntarily stepped down today to allow the clubs, which are the shareholders of KMSF to step up towards being on the Board of Directors of the Federation," said Roy McKenzie who is the Mombasa Motor Chairman.
Shareholders also amended the Articles of Association with Directors now being nominees of the KMSF Limited Shareholders Clubs.
The AGM also resolved that the directors of the new body will be elected for a term of three years after which they will retire and may be eligible for re-election.
The new interim committee will be chaired by McKenzie who will be assisted by Surinder Thatthi, Manjit Sembi of Kisumu, Musa Locho and Dali Kalsi.
