Sudan: Gunmen Allegedly Rape Displaced Woman

Sirba — An armed group reportedly raped a displaced woman from Beni Jadid camp in Sirba locality, West Darfur, on Tuesday, 18 December.

A witness told Radio Dabanga that three armed herders, allegedly loyal to the government, attacked the displaced woman on Tuesday morning at around 10 o'clock, while she was working at her farm close to the camp. According to sources, the gunmen raped her alternately and held her captive for an entire day.

The witness said they found the woman on Wednesday, dumped in a nearby valley. The woman was suffering from extreme fatigue and clearly weakened. Sources added that the woman was taken to the camp for treatment.

It was added that the incident was reported to the police.
