Lokoja — The commander, Innocent Yinfaowei, who disclosed this to journalists yesterday during the flag-off of the command's patrol on water lines along the River Niger, said they were arrested with crude oil.
He said the Chief of Naval Staff flagged off security patrol on the coastal line to ensure safety on water ways. According to him, the exercise is aimed at riding water ways of criminals.
"In recent times, we have been arresting people who vandalize pipelines and steal crude oil. One of the boats with tanks of crude oil that was arrested during the course of our patrol, capsized after hitting a rock. We patrol from here Lokoja- Jamata- Itobe and Idah," he said.
He said crime rate on the water ways increased due to enhanced security on the land.
