Nigeria: Army Promotes 150 Senior Officers

The Nigerian Army Council in one of its first major decisions since the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Azuibe Ihejirika was reappointed early October, has approved the promotion of about 150 senior officers including 22 of them elevated to the rank of Major General.

The Army Council in a statement signed Wednesday by the Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Brig-Gen. Mobolaji Koleosho, who is also amongst the beneficiaries, announced the promotion of 22 Brigadier Generals to the rank of Major General, 37 Colonels to the rank of Brigadier General respectively, and 91 Lieutenant Colonels elevated to the rank of Colonel.

Among those promoted to the substantive rank of Major General are Brig Gen NO Ojiji of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), the Commandant, Depot Nigerian Army, Brig Gen HA Salihu, Brig Gen SZ Uba of the Defence Headquarters, and Brig Gen ET Nienge of the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport.
