Tunisia: Ettounsiya TV Chief Begins Hunger Strike

Ettounsiya TV head Sami Fehri on Tuesday (December 18th) began an indefinite hunger strike, Tunisia Live reported.

"He was optimistic, believing that he would be released," his lawyer Sonia Dahmani said. "But now that he realised that there is no will from the authorities to release him, he resorted to a hunger strike as a tool to make his voice heard," she added.

Fehri was arrested in August for "illegal use of Tunisian state television resources", days after his station aired a satirical puppet show that mocked members of the Ennahda-led government.
