Kenya: Kibaki, Raila Pick Inspector General of Police

PRESIDENT Kibaki in consultation with Prime Minister Raila Odinga have nominated David Kimaiyo for appointment as Police Inspector General. This follows public interviews for the position which were conducted by the National Police Service Commission.

Speaker Kenneth Marende said the National assembly had received a letter from the acting head of Public Service Francis Kimemia on December 17 nominating Kimaiyo.

He directed Kimaiyo's name, his CV and the report of the NPSC on the recruitment to be forwarded to the committee on Administration and National Security for consideration before the approval of the House. He directed the committee to table its report to the House before tomorrow. Kimaiyo is the director of Kenya National Focal Point.
