A woman died in a crash at Kithiini on the Kitui-Thika road at 7.30pm on Monday. Injured Kitui videographer Sunday Mukoma and a National Security Intelligence Service officer were admitted to Kitui District Hospital.

The dead woman was travelling on a motorcycle whose driver was seriously injured and taken to a private hospital at the town.The driver of the Probox vehicle and two other NSIS officers escaped unhurt. Mukoma had hitched a ride with the the three NSIS officer travelling back to Kitui from Nairobi.

He said the vehicle was approaching the Matinyani market branch-off when the motor cycle crossed their path causing the collision.The vehicle rolled several times before landing in a ditch.The woman passenger died on impact while the rider was thrown several metres away.

The operator dislocated his right collarbone. The NSIS officer fractured his right thigh bone which will require surgery to fix. His forehead was stitched up and heavily bandaged.
