The Cairo based club won their 7th CAF Champions League title after beating holders Esperance of Tunisia 3-2 on aggregate.

The Egyptian side weathered a turbulent year that saw domestic league football suspended in the country.

Against all odds the Egyptians giants ended a difficult year 2012 by winning the continent's top interclub trophy.
