Nigeria: FG Blames DISCOs for Delay in Meter Deployment

Six months after the Federal Government introduced a new set of electricity tariffs dubbed Multi Year Tariff Order (MYTO) II, the free meters promised to accompany it has not commenced, Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr Sam Amadi, said yesterday.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja yesterday, Amadi said "the metering issue has not come as planned due to financial challenges. The DISCOs have not been very enthusiastic about it but the commission has a plan B which would be announced by next year."
