The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank approved two AFD financial support loans and grants amounting USD 76,5 million to the Ghana - Rural Enterprises Programme III (REPIII).

The ADF loan and grant of USD 41.10 Million and 35.42 Million respectively, will enable Ghana Government to scale up the impact and outcome of the earlier phases of the programme (REP I and II). They represent a response to Ghana's Shared Growth and Development Agenda (GSGDA) with focus on inclusive growth, youth employment, and women's economic empowerment.

Ghana's Rural Enterprises Programme has a great potential as an engine of inclusive growth and phase III (REP III) includes excellent potential to enhance the role of agriculture and agro-enterprises in inclusive growth, youth employment, and the attenuation of rural-urban migration.

The direct beneficiaries include women and the youth representing 65% of the rural population, whose capacity in micro and small-scale enterprises (MSEs) will be built and or strengthened for sustainable businesses that will lead to income growth , employment generation, improvement in food and nutrition security, educational enrolment, and improved health and overall welfare.
