Gambia: Brikama, Brufut Sail to Zonal Semis

Brikama booked a place into the Super Nawettan semi-final following a shock thrashing of BEM.

Barra, Essau and Mayamba bowed out of the championship in their second stint in the super Nawettan. Brufut and BEM were the revelations in the tourney brushing off a number of big names including 2009 zonal champions, Serrekunda East.

BEM caused shocks fending off competition from a host of title contenders in the group. But BEM defeat to Brikama was a bigger shock as the West Coast Region redeemed its title aspirations.

Alieu John Ndure at the coaching helm helped Brikama reshape their title ambitions after strings of floppy displays under sacked Kabou's reign.

Serrekunda East also failed to breeze into the semis losing to Brufut on penalty kicks before a full to the brim East mini-stadium.

Brufut now meets Brikama into the semis while Banjul pits against Bakau in a promising cracker duel.

Sukuta have been slammed with a ban by the zonal organizing committee for causing violence.
