Gambia: Two Alleged Burglars Arraigned

Two accused persons namely, Mbye Saho and Modou Lamin Njie, were on Thursday arraigned before Magistrate Dayo-Small of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court.

The duo are facing three counts of offences; house breaking, stealing and conspiracy, all contrary to the Laws of The Gambia. The accused persons however denied the allegation and were granted bail in the sum of D20, 000.00 each with one Gambian surety.

The particulars of offence on count one revealed that the accused persons on 15th December 2012 at the Kanifing Estate in the Kanifing Municipality, broke into the house of Maimuna Faye with intend to commit felony therein to wit stealing.

On count two the particulars of offence revealed that the accused persons on the same date and place stole the following items; one I-phone valued at D10, 000.00, one Nokia phone valued at D1, 000.00, one Samsung Phone valued at D1, 500.00 and a wallet containing a cash amount unknown, being the properties of Maimuna Faye.

The particulars of offence on count three stated that the accused persons conspired among themselves to break and steal from the house of Maimuna Faye. Hearing continues.
