Manyatta, Maara and Central Imenti constituencies registered the most voters in Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Meru counties respectively in the just concluded registration.
IEBC regional coordinator Saadi Noor said there was a low turnout at the beginning of the 30-day registration period but the listing picked up later.
"More people registered when we left schools, which were the main registration centres, and set up in open areas such as streets and markets," he said.
In Embu, out of an expected target of 240,657 voters, 230,960 registered. Tharaka Nithi registered 150,753 out of 170,317. Meru listed 75 per cent or 495,251 out of 632,306.
Manyatta registered 96.61 per cent or 70,201 out of 72,089. Maara, which had been faced with an acute shortage of BVR kits, registered 98 per cent or 49,201 out of 49,942. Central Imenti, had a 91 per cent voter turnout.
