Professionals and renonwned artistes including Alvin Slaughter and Donnie McClurkin from United States of America as well as International Choir Performance from Congo Brazzaville Thursday night thrilled audience as the Akwa Ibom State Government marked Christmas Carol.
Others professional that performed at the Christmas Carol night held in the Uyo township stadium were the 9,999 choristers from the state, the biggest assembly of carol singers on earth, Aity Dennis-Inyang, Pat Akpabio, Anne Inyang and Linda Etukudoh and Ibom Unity Brass Band.
The event was attended by the State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, General overseer of the Redeemed Church of God, (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye and many other top dignitaries within and outside the state.
In a remark at the fifth edition of the programme, Governor Akpabio said Christmas celebration by Christians all over the world must be a period of togetherness and peace amongst Nigerians, for the country to move forward.
"As we celebrate Christmas, this should be the time for the country to rise up and come together as one. We must put a stop to envy and jealousy for the country to have peace.
"As we sing to the Lord today, let us all sing to break away ethnic barriers, tribal feelings, kidnapping and also break all barriers to prosperity. As we praise God tonight, I believe that our praises are accepted in Heaven and through our praises tonight, we shall move the country forward", he said
He explained that the annual Christmas Carol and other worshipping was a state policy as his administration from inception in 2007 had always carried God along in the dedication of the state by our state monthly prayers and by singing to God.
According to him, the uncommon transformation of the state comes with spiritual rebirth. "So we would continue to offer ourselves as a vehicle for God to use to change the country".
"Jesus Christ, the son of God was born in an inn. So we come together to celebrate that open birth of Jesus and to give him the rooms in our hearts, in our various communities, in Akwa Ibom state and the country to God Almighty.
"His birth is a freedom anthem to mankind, the central figure of human history and a great story told by mankind. That is why we assemble here today to celebrate Him in grand style. I believe we must tell and sing Christmas to bring joy, happiness and peace to the world".
The Governor then thanked the General overseer of the Redeemed Church of God, (RCCG), Pastor Adeboye for honouring the invitation and his inspirational messages to bless Akwa Ibom people, Nigeria and the world.
Describing him as a worthy Christian, a role model for the entire country, the Governor called on Nigerians to emulate him and also praised other men of God present at the occasion for always interceding for the state and country.
