Kenya: Malaba Stun Mumcop in Obama Cup Tournament

MUMIAS Co-operative were stunned 2-0 by Malaba Boca Juniors in the on-going Obama Cup tournament at ACK Nambale Primary School ground on Wednesday. Job Omuse took the Teso district league champions into the lead in the 60 minute courtesy of a penalty after he was brought down in the box by a Mumcop defender.

Elvis Orachi put the issue beyond doubt with the second goal in the 75th minute from a 30m free kick. The win put Boca on the summit with nine points from three matches, three points ahead of Mumcop.

Mumcop are among six teams from Western and North Western branch that will feature in the Mini-league that kicks off at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega tomorrow.

Boca coach Altaf Bachu said the win was a confirmation that the team can go places if supported. Kolongolo suffereda blow when right back, Ibrahim Misiko sustained borne fracture in their 2-0 win over Nasira. The injury will lock out Misiko from tomorrow's mini-league, where Kolongolo will also feature.
