Kenya: Butere Guard Stands Up to Gang of Four

A gang of four tried to break into the house of an IEBC officer in Butere on Thursday night at around 10pm. They however met strong resistance from the watchman.

"They ordered me to call out my boss (Ben Misiati) but I refused. They descended on me with blows, kicks seriously injuring me," said the watchman from a Butere hospital bed.

Misati said he heard a commotion and peeped through the window only to see his watchman surrounded by unknown people. "I called the police boss who sent me police officers. They however did not catch up with the gangsters because they fled after we raised the alarm" he added.

Police boss Paul Wanjama said police used sniffer dogs to pursue the gang but lost track at the market due to smells from fish and other residues.
