Kenya: Bett's Move to Quit Race Shocks Bureti

Mixed reactions greeted Roads Minister Franklin Bett's decision to opt out of the Kericho governor race. ODM supporters in Kericho yesterday expressed displeasure saying Bett has betrayed their trust on him.

The supporters said the Bureti MP did not consult widely before deciding to drop out of the race. "The news came as a shocker to me, I did not expect him to give up without a goodreason," said Raymond Langat, a Bureti resident.

"We are giving him three days to change his mind or we will support a URP candidate and the Jubilee alliance." saidconference yesterday. In his Bureti
