Politicians have been warned against engaging in hate speech during the election campaigns to avoid a repeat of 2007/08 post election violence.

"We will not tolerate this anymore. Any verbally or written hate speech will be taken seriously regardless of persons rank. Every citizen should watch their tongues before the law takes its cause," said Assistant Commission of police Stanley Cheruiyot.

He was speaking after a two-day training organised by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission for 60 high ranking Kenya Police officers from the Eastern Province at Mwingi Cottage hotel yesterday. He said the police officers were being trained on how to maintain peace.
